Mel MacAskill

Mel MacAskill has been in the Ballachulish Community Council for over 20 years, and has been involved closley with the improvments  in the Ballachulish area. He has had a big input into the development of the slate quarry and making the local fireworks display over the last two years one of the best for miles around. Other projects Mel has been closley involved in are; The preservation of the Slate Arch, Village Planters, A82 Speed Limite also the 20mile speed limite in the village. Mel has also through out the years been involved in the following commities; Shinty, Parks & Hall Commities, and a director of the Ballachulish Communitie Company.

Mel - Born in a small villiage called Annet in Fort William. 
Mel has been living in Ballachulish 36 years,with his wife Diana they have 2 children. 
He worked in Kinlochleven at the alumunium smelter for 19 years, before which he served in the Army in the 'Queens Own Cameron Highlander's'. He now works for Marine Harvest at Blar Mhor Fort William.
