BALLACHULISH COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Minutes of Meeting held in Jubilee Pavilion on Tuesday 6 July 2010

Minutes of last meeting - Proposed SB and seconded LMA.

Bouncy Castle – Agreed in principle to purchase a bouncy castle for the Ballachulish Nursery. Proposed by KeS and seconded by KaS.

Fireworks / Bonfire / Quarry – Meeting to be arranged shortly.

A82 Work –Complaint from Community Council lodged with the Ombudsman. However community councils are not permitted to submit a complaint to the Scottish Public Sector Ombudsman, so the complaint has been re-submitted in the Chairman’s name. A community page on facebook has been created titled “We want our slip roads back”.

New Co-operative Shop & Public Car Park at Village Hall – ongoing.

Finances – Treasurer presented finance update. The village maintenance grant from Highland Council for this year has been reduced by 40% and therefore we need to meet to review the grass-cutting in the village. Invoice for renewal of Data Protection registration proposed by SG and seconded by SB.

Playpark Forum – ongoing.

Witch’s Slate / Boatsheds – Ongoing.

Outdoor Capital Noticeboards / Obelisk – Planning permission application to be submitted.

Slate Monument – Further office bearers meeting to be held (open to all community councillors).

Path at underpass – KeS to follow up.

MacColl Terrace / School Brae – community safety contacted and awaiting response.

War Memorial –ongoing.

Community Council Review – Office bearers met to discuss and submitted comments to Highland Council.

Artwork at bus shelters – to be started after the school holidays.

Damaged signs and windows in the vicinity of the drop-in centre – Ongoing.

Funding for Core Path projects – MMA & TW met with Access Officer and will submit an application for funding.

The next South Ward Forum meeting is in Kinlochleven on 23 August.

KeS was asked to raise the issue of noise following a party – the community council cannot do a great deal.

SB reported that Sustrans claim that the cycle path is suitable for all bikes – including road bikes.

A complaint was made about a lorry parked overnight at the TIC car park. The concern was raised with the police who have no issues with it.

Everyone is encouraged to telephone Scottish Water to report the smell from the Ballachulish Sewage Treatment plant as and when it occurs.

Mr Daynes has offered to speak to the community council about paths. He will attend the August meeting.

A revised version of the Development Plan Scheme 2010 has been issued and can be viewed at www.highland.gov.uk/developmentplans. Highland Council welcome views on the Scheme.

Highland Council is now carrying out the 2nd review of the Highland Scheme of Polling Districts and Polling Places. No changes are required for this area.

MMA met with a senior planner from Highland Council about development areas that are not included in the current version of the local plan.

The community COMPANY is looking at the possibility of generating power from the River Laroch.
