BALLACHULISH COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Minutes of Meeting held in Jubilee Pavilion on Tuesday 3 August 2010

Minutes of last meeting - Proposed LMA and seconded SB.
Suspension of minutes – MMA proposed that we suspend the minutes to concentrate on the open day and only deal with any matters arising. Cllr BG reported that he will chase up the architect with regard the boatsheds. Any other items needing actions will be dealt with by the office bearers and reported back. Seconded by SB.
Slate Monument Open Day – 11th September 2010
The monument is to be dedicated to Dr Lachlan Grant and Mr Angus Clark.
Professor James Hunter will unveil the monument.
The open day run from 2pm to 4pm with the unveiling around 3pm.
Relations of both Dr Grant and Mr Clark will be attending – Dr Roddy is dealing with this.
There will be an Exhibition Tent showcasing business within the Ballachulish Community Council area and Dr Roddy will do an exhibition on Dr Grant.
The village hall has been booked.
The marquee is to go up nearer the slate.
Cllr BG has offered to pay for assistance by archive centre for the Dr Grant exhibition.
Need to give some thought to speakers.
Wording for the plaque was agreed – ACTION – TW to arrange engraving.
ACTION – MMA to arrange cover and how plaque is to be unveiled.
Everyone from the community council is expected to attend the open day.
Flowers and slate gifts are to be arranged for presentation.
Refreshments – burgers, soup, tea & coffee to be purchased. ACTION LMA/CK/SG to arrange food side of things. SG to arrange cover for BBQ. KaS volunteered to do teas & coffees. Other volunteers are welcome.
ACTION – LMA to arrange for someone to do face-painting.
Everything is to be arranged close to the slate monument.
Clairvoyant will be in the committee room of the village hall.
The bouncy castle has been ordered. Playpark forum have agreed to pay 50% of cost. Bouncy castle to be donated to the Ballachulish Nursery – handover to nursery on open day. ACTION – LMA to ask for helpers for bouncy castle on the day.
Piper - SB following up.
Bunting – SB to arrange purchase.
Posters – LMA has created the posters. On community council’s website. Printed posters to be displayed nearer the time.
MMA has asked the Oban Times to attend.
LMA to check what can be done with Nevis Radio.
PA System – KaS to arrange for PA system to be set up.
AJ arranging for the weeding and grass-cutting to be done.
Set-up site on the Saturday morning.
Cllr BG to get back to Professor Hunter on funding issues on project on Dr Grant
Next meeting is on Tuesday 7 September 2010.
