Second Informal Meeting held in the Jubilee Pavilion, Ballachulish on Wednesday 20 February 2008

This was the second informal meeting of representatives of the 5 Community Councils (CC) in South Lochaber to further progress the setting up of an association of community councils in South Lochaber.
The minutes of the first informal meeting held on 23 January 2008 were agreed without any changes.
Constitution
In response to MMA?s query, Dot Ferguson, Ward Manager has advised that a constitution setting out the objectives of the association together with how the group will operate needs to be drawn up. The constitution will be basically the same as that of a community council. DF also advised that associations of community councils are grant-aided.
ACTION ? AMC to obtain copy of the constitution for the Lochaber Association and distribute a copy to a member from each of the 5 CCs.
ACTION ? On behalf of each community council the following people - NMA, RML, DC, DS and Jane Morrison ? will review the Lochaber Association constitution and our own CC constitutions to prepare a proposed constitution for the new association for South Lochaber. NMA to coordinate.
Objectives
The objective of the proposed association is very much to deal with joint issues.
Office Bearers
Each CC will put forward two members from which the office bearers (chairman, vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer) will be selected. The position of chairman and secretary will rotate each year. The vice-chairman will step up into the position of chairman the following year. The position of treasurer will rotate every three years.
