Ballachulish School Gala Day
Sunday saw the Village Park in Ballachulish taken over by marching Pipe Bands, White Elephant and Tombola stalls, and a whole load of local wheelbarrows as they've never been seen before.

The sun truly shone on Ballachulish Primary School Gala Day and a great time was had by the many who turned up to support the event. Put together by the school's fundraising committee, a whopping £3000 was raised on the day.

The afternoon kicked off with a Pipe Band, followed by a procession of wheelbarrows. And it has to be said, the standard of conversion was rather impressive, with everything from Battle of Britain planes, Princesses amidst the flowers and Pirate Ships.

Any peace was regularly broken by the sound of sirens, with the ambulance, fire engine and Glencoe Mountain Rescue trucks all trying to out do each other, A fairly impressive range of "Super Cars" was also on display, with a Ferrari, Porsche, Lambourghini, Aston Martin, and a Jaguar in the line up.

But the real fun was out on the stalls, Some of the school children were painting portraits for a fee, the queue for face painting was always long, and if you wanted a fruit smoothie then you had to pedal the blender and mix your own.

The highlight of the day, for past and present school pupils at least, was the chance to chuck wet sponges at Mr clark, their Headmaster, as he was relegated from Master of Ceremonies to the Stocks. 20 years of frustration was taken out in a few of those wet sponges!
