Community Action Plan

The Ballachulish Community Action Plan is now printed and you should receive a copy through your door in the coming weeks, please let us know if you don’t receive one. Within the action plan there are contact details if you wish to become further involved with any of the ideas discussed.

If you would like to be involved with any of the projects identified by the plan, please come along to the Community Association AGM at the village hall – 5pm Sunday 9th April. We will be looking to organise some groups to start developing plans.

Our Community Action Plan can also be downloaded here: Ballachulish Community Action Plan (5Mb PDF file)

This isn’t the end – the document you receive is meant to be a live, working document, which will develop over the years. If you have any ideas or thoughts on any aspect of the document, or indeed, anything you feel is missing from it, please let us know.

What is a CAP?

A Community Action Plan is a document drawn up by the community to help guide the decision making in the community in the future. Every member of the community, young and old, was given an opportunity to have an input into the plan, through a survey available on paper, or online  and other meetings and forums. It is initially a 5 year plan, but with aspirations and hopes beyond that and the plan will also be renewed and updated  before the 5 years is up.

We didn’t just want to know what you think of our community at the moment, but what you would like to see in the future. This is from small ideas like more Christmas Lights (already in progress) to the big ideas like a working slate museum in the Quarry or an all-weather sports pitch. But, some realism is needed – Tennis Courts will be no use halfway up the mountain!

The action plan is being drawn up by Ballachulish Community Association SCIO in conjunction with the Community Council and representatives from other interested groups in the community. However, EVERYONE is welcome to get involved, and further details will be available in due course.
