Local Activities

Ballachulish offers a good variety of outdoor activities from cycling and walking routes, watersports, climbing and of course winter sports. Try a new activity for the first time, or get involved in something in another part of the Lochaber area but still base yourself in Ballachulish.

Segway Tours with Glencoe Activities – Off-road in the lovely Glenachulish valley, set between massive mountains and glistening loch. Once the guide has you started on your magic carpet, you’re off!

Bike the Donkey Hill Dirt Track – Young riders from the Ballachulish area were looking for an area to improve their skills developed the Donkey Hill dirt track.

Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course  – come to “The Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course” and “The Ivy Room” – the cosy club house at the heart of this remarkable West Coast discovery in Ballachulish near Fort William.

CranKitUp – CrankitupGear is a small business borne out of necessity and geography. We have an excellent working relationship with the neighbouring cycle shops in Fort William, where a lot of the mountain bike action centres around Nevis Range. 

Glencoe Mountain Resort -The resort is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty on Rannoch Moor and offers stunning views of the iconic Buachaille Etive Mor. In summer the centre offers mountain biking (Downhill and XC), archery, orienteering, hill-walking, climbing, chairlift rides, photography, trail building, guided walks and home cooked food in the log cabin cafe. In winter skiing, snowboarding, sledging and avalanche rescue training are available. 19 runs across 7 lifts catering for skiers and boarders of all levels, including the longest and steepest runs in Scotland. 

Glencoe Visitor Centre – Nestling into the landscape at the foot of the glen is the award-winning eco-friendly Visitor Centre. Including exhibition, viewing platform, cafe, shop and ranger information point. The Ranger service has a varied events programme with guided walks, Landrover safaris and childrens events
